Hello, and welcome to Backyard horse!
If you are a new member, thanks for joining! Though this community is geared towards non-showing 'backyard' hackers, we welcome anyone with a passion for horses.

We have a few neat little things we do around here, like our tagging system. We'd like for each horse to have it's own tag, so if you're a new member, introduce yourself, your horses, and create a tag for them! We have other topics tagged as well -feel free to check out the "maintainer posts" if you have any questions about how to apply tags. :)

We may be a Backyard community, but that doesn't mean we don't welcome every horse lover or every discipline. Trail rider, contester, hunter/jumper, dressage, western pleasure, or three day eventing--we welcome you all! And anyone else I didn't mention either. You may not see a lot of show results here, but we'd love to hear about your accomplishment whether they come with a blue ribbon or blue skies.

A few rules that are still a must include:
1.) minimal swearing -we have young members here, and while we realize sometimes you just have to get it out, we can still keep it reasonable.

2.) photos -we love pictures! But show us one and put the rest behind a cut, please! Also, try to keep them at a reasonable size. If you're unsure how to create cuts or resize your image, check the LiveJournal Faq, or ask! We're more than willing to tell you.

3.) Occasional off topic posts are ok. We're a small community, and we get to know each other pretty well. Should you want to share about non-horsey life, that's ok! But just remember, this is a horse community.

4.) Feel free to expand out horizons and promote a new community or other forum of interest...BEHIND A CUT! you can promote anything, any topic, but if it is off topic, behind a cut, it goes :)

5.) The biggest, most important rule: NO FLAMING, NO DRAMA -helpful hints are great, and often appreciated. Just remember above all, it's not your horse. Drama is not tolerated!

Remember, be safe and happy in the saddle!
